Wish a new year where poverty is pushed one step backwards

Wish a new year where atheletes win medals on individual capabilty and not by use of drugs

Wish a new year where the release of one star on bail does not make it to the front pages

Wish a new year where glare and glitter take the back seat on festival days

Wish a new year where people are elected based on the number of votes polled and not on the number
bullets fired

Wish a new year where a temple is a place of worship and not a place for religious warfare.

Wish a new year when innocent commuters are not consumed by the bombs of terrorists

Father

In the memory of my father,
Who sowed me as a seed,
Took pains to grow me as a plant
and mature into a tree,
Who saw me yeild the branches
and the shady green leaves;
Who rejoiced to see me flower
and would have been delighted
to see me bear fruit…
